IPL Anchor

This is a shocker! The 2016 edition of the biggest domestic T20 league in the world, fans will be deprived of one of the most familiar voices of cricket ever. Harsha Bhogle, the local veteran has been shunned by the Indian authorities for reasons unknown to anyone.

Bhogle’s association with Indian cricket stretches back to over 2 decades, and he has featured as one of the key commentators in each of the previous 8 IPL seasons. His contract termination just a week prior to the start of the 9th edition was a massive surprise to many.

While Sony TV India holds the official and exclusive rights to broadcast the IPL, it is the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) that manages the production. BCCI’s secretary Anurag Thakur and IPL chairman Rajiv Shukla turned down any questions regarding the expulsion of the legendary Harsha Bhogle.

Bhogle however has turned up and claimed that he was not informed of anything. The 54 year old added that he hoped that the players were not the ones who complained of any of his things, since the BCCI considers feedback from everyone, players, commentators and officials upon deciding the tournament team.
